Howard M. Talenfeld, a leading children’s rights attorney and Business Unit Leader of Justice for Kids, a division of Kelley Kronenberg, was recently recognized as an honoree at the Keiser University Choice Awards – Minority Community Leaders Gala on November 17.

This special event recognized and celebrated the achievements of individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions to minority communities, fostering a sense of community and empowerment. It also brought together leaders from diverse backgrounds to share their experiences and resources to strengthen their collective impact.

As a Partner and Business Unit Leader with Kelley Kronenberg and Justice for Kids, Talenfeld is known for having established a robust children’s rights practice. His work on behalf of at-risk children has improved many lives and has resulted in judicial and legislative reforms. For more than two decades, he has served as Founder and Board President for Florida’s Children First (FCF), an award-winning nonprofit organization that advocates before the Florida Legislature, Congress and other governmental entities to make positive systemic changes to improve children’s lives.

Since 2018, Talenfeld has consistently been listed on Florida Trend magazine’s Florida 500 list because of the significant positive impacts of his work on behalf of vulnerable populations. In addition to his work with FCF, Talenfeld has served three terms as the Chair of The Florida Bar Legal Needs of Children Committee and he chaired the Broward Days Children’s Issues Team. He was a Director of Florida’s Voice on Developmental Disabilities and he sat on the Steering Committee for Citizens for Broward’s Children in 2000 and 2014.

Among his many accolades, Talenfeld was recognized by The Florida Bar Foundation as the recipient of the 2018 Medal of Honor Award for a Lawyer. Additionally, he has been recognized for his efforts with The Florida Bar’s President’s Award of Merit and the Florida Bar President’s Pro Bono Service Award for the 17th Judicial Circuit.
